July 20 — Lying for the Lord. Inside the Mind of Joseph Smith: Psychobiography and the Book of Mormon, Introduction p. xliii f28 “My duty as a member of the Council of the Twelve is to protect what is most unique about the LDS church, namely the authority of priesthood, testimony regarding the restoration of the gospel, and the divine mission of the Savior. Everything may be sacrificed in order to maintain the integrity of those essential facts. Thus, if Mormon Enigma reveals information that is detrimental to the reputation of Joseph Smith, then it is necessary to try to limit its influence and that of its authors.” – Robert D. Anderson

With the background out of the way we’re wondering…
When is it okay not to tell or reveal the whole truth?
Mormon Enigma was a book written by Emma Smith after Joseph died and her reviews of Brigham Young were less than favorable.
What’s so sad is how the Church has to be on guard at all times to refute anyone who says something contrary to what they publish.
Oh, what a tangled web…
Pray for Mormons to ask questions and not back down when they see the truth.
Also explain how it’s okay to ask questions as the Bible tells us that the Bereans did to make sure what they were being taught was legit – Acts 17:11.

What you said is perfect. I’ve always been amazed at how this works. No worries, no concerns about whether or not I may have to apologize for what He said. What comfort it brings to my life each and every day!
