General Conference, ‘In the Space of Not Many Years’, October 2024 “Allowing pride to enter into our hearts can cause us to mock that which is sacred, disbelieve in the spirit of prophecy and revelation, trample under our feet the commandments of God, deny the word of God, cast out, mock, and revile against the prophets, and forget the Lord our God. … Apostasy can occur to institutions and individuals…
At the institutional level, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will not be lost through apostasy or taken from the earth. … If you or I believe we are sufficiently strong and stalwart to avoid the arrogance of pride, then perhaps we already are suffering from this deadly spiritual disease. … In the space of not many days, weeks, months or years, we might forfeit our spiritual birthright for far less than a mess of pottage.” — David A. Bednar

2 Timothy 4:3-4 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

Mr. Bednar’s warning at conference would be laughable if it wasn’t so tragic. He stated that denying the word of God is a form of apostasy, but this is exactly what the Church has done!
Article of Faith 8 “We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.”
Although I’ve always said that this isn’t about flesh and blood but the powers and principalities of the air (Eph. 6:11-12), I’m also convinced that at some point leaders of the Church have made a vow to turn their back on the Lord.
Talks like this stand out because it sounds like they’re reminding members to behave which means they’re probably seeing a fair amount of apostasy.
Please pray for those who listened to this man and other speakers to reject their words and turn to the Lord!

[…] Conference Quote: Mocking Prophets is Apostasy – David A. Bednar […]
Psalm 5:9
“For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre: they flatter with their tongue”.
Tetelestai-Melissa
Amen to that Melissa! They only flatter themselves.
Only non-Christian religions are concerned about apostasy. If it’s not an issue, it wouldn’t need to be mentioned.
Melissa
Good point! The only religions I’ve seen that voice a concern about apostasy are the JW’s, LDS and Catholics.
