September 28 — Today, I saw online that Russell M. Nelson, who was president of the Mormon Church, had passed away. He was 101 years old and the 17th President of the Church. When I saw this today, I felt sorrow for his family. I sincerely pray for them during this time.
My heart also goes out to the members of the Mormon Church who have been led astray by his teachings. I saw a short clip from a news station that asked a young woman what she would remember most about him. To paraphrase, she responded that she would remember how he encouraged people to go to the temple.
Part of me wants to hope that God reached out to him and he accepted Jesus and was truly saved before he died. The other part of me doubts that it happened. I believe that at some point, God gives people over to those things they want to worship when they refuse to repent and acknowledge him. I’m sure there were people in Nelson’s life who tried to witness him, if he chose to ignore it; where he is now is by his own doing.
Mormonism makes me think of Romans 10:2
For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
And of Isaiah 29:13 –
Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
I know Mormons want to worship God, but the problem is they are worshipping the wrong one. They believe what all their prophets have said about the body of Christ, from Joseph Smith to Nelson. They’ve been told many times over by these men that their church is “the only true church” and that all the other churches are corrupt.
M. Russell Ballard asked them in the General Conference in October 2016, if they left the Church, “Where will you go?”, implying that the Mormon Church is the only place for them to be. Like Ballard Nelson taught, the only way for someone to live with God when they die is by following and obeying the doctrines of Mormonism.
I pray for Mormons to come to know the real Jesus Christ. You can go to him; he is there for you. You don’t have to stay in a religion that is leading you astray.
In Christ,

It’s a sad day. Don’t think he is in heaven. Prayers for all Mormons.

I wonder what’s next…
Honestly I don’t think President Nelson is “thinking Celestial” right now. He just got a hard lesson of Truth. He had a long time to repent. He waited over 100 years, while continually teaching a false gospel without any hint of repentance. He had every opportunity to stand at general conference and share the Truth, and he didn’t.
Like I said earlier today, it’d be a scary place to be in his shoes. 🙁
Scary for sure…I definitely wouldn’t want to be anywhere near that situation 😧
That’s what I was thinking. God gave him many years to repent Prayers for all Mormons to wake up and follow Jesus of the bible. It’s about Jesus not their religion or their so called prophets. It’s time to look to Jesus.
M.J
It’s past time. I pray that every Mormon will think about Nelson’s death and wonder what it’d be like for them personally. We said much the same when their last prophet (Monson) died. Hopefully they’ll allow Jesus to intervene in their lives.
