October 30 — D&C 42:6 “And ye shall go forth in the power of my Spirit, preaching my gospel, two by two, in my name, lifting up your voices as with the sound of a trump, declaring my word like unto angels of God.” – February 9, 1831

If you added a little melodramatic flair, Mark 6:7 would sound much like what Joseph commanded his followers to do.
“And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits”.

Ah, but then we see how just five years later Smith would contradict himself by telling the elders they need to go out one by one.

History of the Church 2:431 “…the Elders would go forth, and each must stand for himself, as it was not necessary for them to be sent out, two by two, as in former times, but to go in all meekness, in sobriety, and preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified…This I delivered by way of commandment; and all who observe it not, will pull down persecution upon their heads” – March 30, 1836

So how many missionaries should go out?
Is it one?
Two?
Were they persecuted?
If so, what type of persecutions took place?
Lastly, why did Smith keep changing his mind? How can you trust a leader who does this?
I’ve never been involved with a Christian organization that operates like this. Ask a Mormon what they think of Smith’s contradictions!
