December 2 — First Presidency Christmas Message
We rejoice in remembering our Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born in humble circumstances. Heavenly angels heralded His birth. He preached the gospel of repentance, hope, and everlasting life.
He opened the eyes of the blind, made the deaf to hear, healed all manner of afflictions, and raised the dead. He is the Only Begotten of our Father in Heaven, the Firstborn of God’s spirit children. Through His sacrifice and infinite Atonement, we can be reconciled with God by obedience and repentance.
In this season of light and goodwill, we rejoice in Jesus Christ and in His eternal plan of happiness. We invite you to seek Him and the blessings of His peace. Merry Christmas!

Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

John 1:14 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

The Church’s Christmas greeting this year almost sounded Christian. However, we came across a few issues. Here’s some of what they said –
1.Jesus is ‘…The Only Begotten of the Father in Heaven…’
This comment means that they believe Jesus was conceived in heaven.
2.Jesus is ‘The Firstborn of God’s spirit children’.
Jesus was not created – He is God! The Greek word for this is monogenes. It means only one genesis or only one generated. See ICR (Institute for Creation Research) for an in-depth look at this!
Furthermore, there’s no such thing as spirit children.
3.’We can be reconciled with God by obedience and repent’.
We are reconciled because of the blood He spilt for us, not because of any works we have done. Repenting is a given when we accept Him as our Savior and God.
