April 14 — After the death of Russell M. Nelson, it was announced in October 2025 that Dallin H. Oaks would be the new prophet of the Mormon Church. When I was a Mormon, this was a very exciting time for us, as we tried to guess who the next prophet would be. I was only a member of the church for a year when Howard W. Hunter passed away in March 1995.

I remember how thrilled all the long-time members of the Church were at the thought of what revelations God would give this new prophet, and if there would be any doctrinal changes. (more…)

April 13 — General Conference, ‘Jesus Christ Is the Way’, April 2026 “…To walk with Jesus is to follow His prophet. … Think about it: None of us could know the true and living Christ without prophetic witness. … To knowingly reject His prophets is, by His own definition, to reject Him (Luke 10:16).

The Lord warned of a time when “every man walketh in his own way, and after the image of his own god.” Without apostles and prophets, our perception of Christ gradually becomes whatever we want Him to be. Our understanding of doctrine shifts. … As we bind ourselves to Him through covenant and follow His living prophet, we walk the one path that leads us safely home.” — Brian J.  April 12 — General Conference, ‘I Feel My Savior’s Love’, April 2026 “The sacrament is the ordinance that replaces the sacrifices of blood and burnt offerings of the Mosaic law. … As we partake of this ordinance with a broken heart, the Lord promises us the blessing of having the companionship and constant guidance of the Holy Ghost.

Giving Away Sins

General Conference, ‘I Will Give Away All My Sins to Know Thee’, April 2026 “I was born into a non-Christian family. As a boy, I would accompany my mother to Chinese temples to worship different gods. …the great miracle came when I was 10 years old and we moved to Bolivia. I met the missionaries. They taught me about a God I had never heard of before. …Even though I didn’t speak Spanish and couldn’t understand all the words, I felt peace in my heart, and somehow I knew that what I was learning was good. …

In the Book of Mormon, we read the story of an old king who, like me, did not know God. He had met a missionary…[who said]… if there is a God, and if thou art God, wilt thou make thyself known unto me, and I will give away all my sins to know thee.” (more…)

Do Your Best, Christ Makes Up the Difference

General Conference, ‘Come Home’, April 2026 “…you don’t have to be perfect to be in this Church. You just have to do your best, and Christ will make up the difference. …

…Overcoming their concerns was not an issue of resolving every faith question but of helping them recognize the Holy Ghost. …When we fall short, He repairs the breaches in our lives.” — Elder Clark G. Gilbert (more…)
