 April 14 — After the death of Russell M. Nelson, it was announced in October 2025 that Dallin H. Oaks would be the new prophet of the Mormon Church. When I was a Mormon, this was a very exciting time for us, as we tried to guess who the next prophet would be. I was only a member of the church for a year when Howard W. Hunter passed away in March 1995.

I remember how thrilled all the long-time members of the Church were at the thought of what revelations God would give this new prophet, and if there would be any doctrinal changes. (more…)

General Conference April 2016 3
For the next couple of days we’re taking a look at a few of the summaries for the talks given at the General Conference from this past weekend April 2-3, 2016. As is always the case, there were no revelations from the Church. One would think this might happen on occasion since they’re pretty resolute on the theory they must have prophets to reveal new things from their god.

Each of the three talks we looked at here are nothing short of deplorable, thus limiting ourselves to just a few of them here. I still haven’t decided which one is worse…
