LDS Sunday School OT Lesson 47

Old-Testament-Gospel-Doctrine-Teachers-Manual-35570000As we’ve been nearing the end of these lessons I’ve noticed a recurring theme going on.  The Church has turned the lessons more inward than outward. What I mean by that is for the past several weeks these lessons are more about Mormonism, their temples and the growth of the Church than the Bible and what God has to say. They’ve systematically isolated members more and more with each lesson and I highly doubt members are even aware of what’s taken place. Mind you, I know all the lessons have been filled with false teachings, etc; however, they’ve been getting progressively worse.

Righteousness in Jerusalem?

Mormon Decisions 101 Nephi 17:22; “And we know that the people who were in the land of Jerusalem were a righteous people; for they kept the statutes and judgments of the Lord, and all his commandments, according to the law of Moses; wherefore, we know that they are a righteous people; and our father hath judged them, and hath led us away because we would hearken unto his words; yea, and our brother is like unto him. And after this manner of language did my brethren murmur and complain against us.”

Jeremiah 2:11-13, 29; “Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit. 12 Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD. 13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. 29 Wherefore will ye plead with me? ye all have transgressed against me, saith the LORD.”

Tip of the Day, November 17

November 17 – Ezra 6:5; “And also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and brought unto Babylon, be restored, and brought again unto the temple which is at Jerusalem, every one to his place, and place them in the house of God.”

This verse is just an example to show that there was never but one temple at a time built for the Lord.  There have been three temples built in all, but there’s only been one at a time all throughout history.  The Babylonians had many temples though and you’ll see in today’s quote that the Mormons have it wrong again.

Alma 16:13; “And Alma and Amulek went forth preaching repentance to the people in their temples, and in their sanctuaries, and also in their synagogues, which were built after the manner of the Jews.”
