January 18 — Genesis 49:10 “The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.”

John 11:47-52 “Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles. 48 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation. 49 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, 50 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. 51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; 52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.”

Journal of Discourses 1:347 “They suppose that the “Mormons” have turned a somerset, have apostatized, and altered their character and creed as a people. I always take great pleasure in telling such honorable men, such wise men, that that which they call “Mormonism” changeth not. It is the same now as in the days of Joseph…not one practical point of the religion has changed; but we as a people may be fluctuating, but our religion changeth not.” – Jedidiah M. Grant, Salt Lake City, August 30, 1853 (more…)

October 6 – One reason why Jesus was crucified. John 11:25-27; “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?  She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.”

Mormon Decisions 10Journal of Discourses 3:11; “I thank the Lord for the bitter as well as for the sweet; I like to grapple with the opposite: I like to work and have something to oppose. I used to dread those things, but now I like to grapple with opposition, and there is plenty of it on the right hand and on the left. When trouble gets in among you, shake it off, or bid it stand out of the way. If the devil should come and say, “Brother Brigham is not doing his duty, or is not doing right,” kick him right out of your way; bid him depart, do not allow him to have place in your habitation, but learn to be happy.” – Jedidiah Grant,  Salt Lake City, May 30, 1855

Death to Apostates

Romans 3:10-19; “10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:

14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:

15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:

16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:

17 And the way of peace have they not known:

18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.

19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.”

Today’s Mormon Dilemma is part of a speech given by the apostle Jedidiah Morgan Grant. The rebuke he gave to members was harsh as you’ll see here and served as the beginning of the “Mormon Reformation”. The Church had encountered a fair amount of opposition to the leaders and the penalty was stiff – your life.

There have been and will continue to be many who call themselves “The Christ” or the only path to salvation.  In today’s age, we see Mohammed, the Jehovah Witnesses, and here we have the Mormon Church.  Make sure you know whom Jesus Christ is and watch out for the wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Jedidiah M. Grant said in Journal of Discourses, Vol. 1. pp. 345-46; “The grand reason of the burst of public sentiment in anathemas upon Christ and his disciples, causing his crucifixion, was evidently based upon polygamy, according to the testimony of the philosophers who rose in that age.  A belief in the doctrine of a plurality of wives caused the persecution of Jesus and his followers.  We might almost think that they [Jesus and his followers] were Mormons.”
