Our original posting of ‘Moroni for Your Christmas Tree’ was first published back in 2012. Since that time we’ve visited the LDS Bookstore to see what other items they sell, and true to form they’ve not changed their ways.

While the tree topper is no longer available, we did notice this year they’re also offering a plastic form of the BoM Liahona which is similar to an 8 ball toy you can play and find your future. The other item we saw was a replica of the Golden Plates.

Moroni the golden calf of MormonismMelissa sent me an e-mail with the link below to the online Deseret Bookstore Christmas decoration section.

Deseret Bookstore, Moroni Christmas Tree Topper

My first reaction when I saw this golden Moroni tree topper was the story of the Israelites making themselves a golden calf to worship while waiting for Moses to come down from the mountain.

I don’t know about anyone else and what they put on top of their trees.  My family has traditionally put an angel on ours symbolizing the angels who declared the birth of our Lord.

While the Christmas tree symbolizes many things we found ourselves sad for the Mormons who can’t seem to escape their religion even at one of the most holy Christian days of the year.

Nauvoo and Salt Lake Temples 4

As we close up our miniseries on the Nauvoo and Salt Lake Temples I pray both Christian and Mormon alike will take these things and go to the word of the Lord to learn more on what He has to say about them.
