False Prophecies of Joseph Smith
Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 157; “How have we come at the Priesthood in the last days? It came down, down, in regular succession. Peter, James, and John had it given to them and they gave it to others. Christ is the Great High Priest; Adam next. Paul speaks of the Church coming to an innumerable company of angels—to God the Judge of all—the spirits of just men made perfect; to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant. (Hebrews 12:22-24.)”
This is obviously a false prophecy. None of the apostles held the priesthood; they weren’t Levites. They wouldn’t have legally been allowed to pass down any priesthood to Joseph so whoever or whatever Smith saw that day was not of God.
The idea that Adam held the priesthood is just about as real as the apostles holding it. The priesthood wasn’t around until the time of Moses so how is it that Adam held it?
Man, we really got some ridiculous stuff here.
First, if the Priesthood wasn’t around until the time of Moses how then was Melchizedek, who lived during the time of Abraham, hold the Priesthood (Psalms 110: 4; Hebrews 5: 6; 7: 1).
Also, the Apostles did have the Priesthood, just not the Priesthood of Aaron. They held the Priesthood of Melchizedek, which Moses held, and which Korah tried to take from him (Numbers 16). It was this Priesthood that Moses conferred on Joshua (Numbers 27: 18-19), which Joshua was of the tribe of Ephraim (Numbers 13: 8).
Beyond this, we have the record of Christ himself ordaining the Twelve (Mark 3: 14).
What you really mean by your article, as it is the only logical meaning, is that this is a false doctrine according to your faith. Any other meaning is a false meaning.
