God’s Dreadful Day is at Your Door
D&C 110:16; “Therefore, the keys of this dispensation are committed into your hands; and by this ye may know that the great and dreadful day of the Lord is near, even at the doors.”
Vision of Smith & Cowdery in Kirtland, OH on April 3, 1836. History of the Church 2:435-436.
The “eyes of understanding were opened” to these two men when they saw the great and dreadful day of the Lord being near. If the Lord was at the door it’s been a long wait for him – 176 years at the time of this writing in 2012.
It’s been over 2000 years since his first coming. Relatively speaking 176 years isn’t very long.
I find it funny that you seem to think that your arbitrary time frame can prove God’s word false.
He says,”,..even at the doors…”. It sounds to me like this is soon. The Bible says that Jesus wiil come again and not ,”…even at the doors…”.
I wish I could remember where I read it, but there was a Christian ( a Baptist I think) who was complaining that some are saying the Bible is not true because some parts of it have not come true yet.
Like the Bible naysayers, you are jumping the gun.
1 Peter 4: 7
“But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.”
I think that something at hand is closer than just at the door.
2000 years vs. less then 200 years.
If you have ever been in the south you soon learn that one person’s idea of “down the road a piece” is way different then another person’s idea.
None of us know the mind of the Lord.
