Journal of Discourses 4:41; “If I were to forsake this kingdom, the car of righteousness would roll over and crush me into insignificance; and so it will every other man that gets out of the right path. What then are we going to do? We had better stick to the ship than jump overboard, because if we stay aboard we stand a good chance to be saved, but if we jump over we shall be drowned.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, August 31, 1856
Matthew 7:24-29; “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. 28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: 29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.”
I guess the Church forsook the kingdom when they denounced polygamy for good in 1904 so now where is their salvation placed?
As Jesus said the house built upon the sand sank and fell. Nothing held it up because it wasn’t built with a sure foundation.
Our sure foundation is God’s word. It doesn’t change just as God doesn’t change. Hosea 11:9. The teachings of God are certain and can be relied upon just as sure as a house will stand that’s built upon a rock.
These new revelations that weren’t introduced by God will fail and did fail as we see here with polygamy.
Look at just some of the effects of polygamy.
1904 the Manifesto was signed and broke up the Church which caused dissension in the body.
Families went into hiding because the government deemed polygamy illegal.
Men were thrown into prison which split up families.
