Spirit of Christ Already in You
Preach My Gospel; “It is important for a …..missionary….to know that the Holy Ghost can work through the Light of Christ. A teacher of gospel truths is not planting something foreign or even new into an adult or a child. Rather, the missionary or teacher is making contact with the Spirit of Christ already there. The gospel will have a familiar ‘ring’ to them.” (“The Light of Christ”, address delivered at the seminar for new mission presidents, 22 June 2004, 2).” – Boyd K. Packer
2 Cor 5:17; “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Couple things to look at with this interesting comment by Mr. Packer.
1. The Mormon Holy Ghost is the not God and he’s not the spirit of God. The Mormon HG is defined this way in the Ensign by Henry Eyring; “The Holy Ghost is a sanctifier. We can have Him as our companion because the Lord restored the Melchizedek Priesthood through the Prophet Joseph Smith. The keys of that priesthood are on the earth today. By its power we can make covenants which allow us to have the Holy Ghost with us constantly.” – Ensign, September 2008, pg. 5
2. The definition for the Light of Christ is found in Encyclopedia of Mormonism, pg 835 and it says; ““The Light of Christ refers to the spiritual power that emanates from God to fill the immensity of space and enlightens every man, woman, and child. Other terms sometimes used to denote this same phenomenon are Holy Spirit, “Spirit of the Lord,” and “Spirit of Truth,” but it is different from the Holy Ghost.”
3. In Mormon Doctrine under Spirit of Christ it says to look under Light of Christ.
The truth is that you are either of the devil or the Lord. If you haven’t received forgiveness and confessed Jesus Christ is your Lord and God you do not have God’s Holy Spirit residing inside you.
The Mormon gospel should sound very familiar to anyone who isn’t saved because it’s not from God! All this talk about different spirits and lights and powers that emanate from the Mormon god are not of the God of the Bible.
