1 Nephi 14:25, 27; “But the things which thou shalt see hereafter thou shalt not write; for the Lord God hath ordained the apostle of the Lamb of God that he should write them. 27 And I, Nephi, heard and bear record, that the name of the apostle of the Lamb was John, according to the word of the angel.”
2 Timothy 2:16; “But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.”
This has to be near the top of ridiculous things in the Book of Mormon.
Nephi who lived circa 600 BC had a vision and God told him to write things down, but not everything, oh no!
What I find interesting is how this little passage doesn’t line up w/ Joseph Smith’s claim that no Greek was on the golden plates. John and apostle are obviously Greek so how did those get there?
Secondly, the term Lamb of God wasn’t part of OT vocabulary.
Thirdly, why did Nephi talk about John’s name in the past tense? …the name of the apostle of the Lamb was John…
Shouldn’t that read, “will be John”?
