Joseph Smith Knows More than Anyone
History of the Church 5:467; “…before I will bear this unhallowed persecution any longer—before I will be dragged away again among my enemies for trial, I will spill the last drop of blood in my veins, and will see all my enemies in hell! To bear it any longer would be a sin, and I will not bear it any longer. Shall we bear it any longer? [One universal “No!” ran through all the vast assembly, like a loud peal of thunder.]
I wish the lawyer who says we have no powers in Nauvoo may be choked to death with his own words. Don’t employ lawyers, or pay them money for their knowledge, for I have learned that they don’t know anything. I know more than they all.” – Joseph Smith
Matthew 5:39, 44; “But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”
Acts 5:41; “And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.”
Do the words of Joseph Smith sound like something a man of God would say? If not, why?
Jesus told us that whenever someone attacks either physically or otherwise for His name sake, offer yourself. Don’t fight back to even the score. Pray for those who hate you.
I can’t count the number of people who’ve verbally attacked not just this ministry, but many other Christian ministries and years later have come forward telling us that because of our witness they’ve come to know the Lord! This is SO much better than making sure we stick up for ourselves because we had our human pride stomped upon.
Why was it so important for Joseph to proclaim he was smarter than all the lawyers?
What purpose does this serve for the average Mormon like my mother?
Does it point to Jesus?
Does it glorify God?
