Criticism of Leaders
Ensign, February 1987, “Criticism”, pg 68; “It’s wrong to criticize leaders of the church, even if the criticism is true.” – Dallin H. Oaks
1 Thessalonians 5:21; “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”
Job 11:3-5; “Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed? 4 For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes. 5 But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee.”
If a Christian proves someone or something (i.e. a church) is wrong with their lies about God and everything else, what should they do?
What about the Mormon? What if he/she knows a church leader has lied or contradicted himself then what? Are they supposed to just sit on their hands and shut up?
NO – of course not! The Mormon just like everyone else in the world needs to stand up and speak out.
The Church likes to give themselves a free pass, but God doesn’t condone such behavior. He tells us repeatedly that we need to denounce evil and abstain from all of it. To keep silent is to acknowledge agreement and therein is the sin.
