Gospel Truth; Discourses and Writings of President George Q. Cannon 1:110; “Some believe our eternal destiny is to sit upon clouds, thrum harps and sing forever. What an occupation! What a monotony! No matter how sweet this music might be it would become very wearisome if extended long.
But such is not our destiny. Our mission hereafter is to perpetuate and continue the work of our Father and our God, to perpetuate our species and to create worlds from the elements by which we are surrounded.” — George Q. Cannon
Revelation 7:16-17, 21:4; “They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. 17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
There are a number of websites with info from the Bible on what we’ll be doing in heaven, however, the description Mr. Cannon portrays is nothing but a greedy rendition of what he needs to be entertained.
I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to just taking a break for longer than ten minutes to hang out with Him, and I’m sure that Jesus has something planned for us! If we let our minds go into the abyss of ‘what do I get out of it’, then nothing we read in the Bible will suffice our selfish selves.
My husband Kirk and I were talking about this one day and I told him my idea of heaven is being blessed if He asks me to run an errand for him. While we won’t have any thirst, tears, or pain, I’m hoping He’ll ask me to fetch a glass of water for Him, and have the blessing of bowing at His feet to worship Him. What an honor it’d be!
One thing I do know for sure is that I won’t have to be eternally pregnant! Mark 12:18-27
Here are a few websites you might want to check out on this subject. They’re brutally honest when the question arises ‘Will I be bored’.
My disclaimer: I don’t necessarily agree with every statement, but they offer other opinions which may be useful for you.
