General Conference, ‘The Comforter,’ April 2015; “The burdens His faithful servants must carry in life are made lighter by His Atonement…You have seen such tests in the lives of good people you love. You have felt a desire to help them. There is a reason for your feeling of compassion for them.
You are a covenant member of the Church of Jesus Christ. A great change began in your heart when you came into the Church. You made a covenant, and you received a promise that began changing your very nature…
Today we’re taking a look at the speech given by Mr. Henry Eyring, an apostle of the LDS Church. This speech was delivered at the LDS Women’s Conference on March 28, 2015. Note: the women’s conferences are held the weekend before the General Conferences held in April and October each year.
First of all, what does it mean ‘burdens are made lighter because of His atonement’?
Secondly, people don’t feel compassion or empathy for others because they’ve joined a church. People are born with a conscience and the personality of that person motivates people to act by compulsion because of the empathy they might have about something.
In addition to our consciences that God instilled inside of us, the work of the Holy Spirit also opens our eyes to the needs of others whom God wants for us to minister to. Church membership has nothing to do with this at all!
“When He was about to be crucified, the Savior described the way He helps lighten loads and gives strength to carry them…So He gave them the promise that He makes to us and to all His true disciples:
“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
“Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”3” – Henry B. Eyring
Teachings like this is what continues to kill me. I feel a desperateness inside whenever I see someone in the Church using scriptures they don’t believe in. Making matters worse, it’s not that they just don’t believe in them, they emphatically teach against the doctrines of the Bible – especially this particular passage we see in the gospel of John.
Take just one word from Jesus’ discourse that Mr. Eyring quoted from. Forever. This word means incessantly, without ever going away – He will never go away! Sadly, Mormons don’t believe this at all.
Think of it for a moment. This guy just taught that we can rely upon Jesus’ strength because of what it says in the Bible. While Mr. Eyring said all that, inside he knows full well Mormons believe the following doctrines.
In D&C 130:23 we read –
“A man may receive the Holy Ghost, and it may descend upon him and not tarry with him.”
Also see Articles of Faith-chapter 8, Gospel Principles p. 37;
“He is a spirit that has the form and likeness of a man. He can be in only one place at a time, but his influence can be everywhere at the same time. Compare the Holy Ghost to the sun. There is just one sun, but its light and warmth are felt by everyone on earth.”
And then there’s Brigham’s infamous discourse on the role of the Holy Spirit and the conception of Jesus Christ –
Journal of Discourses-1:51; “…if the Son was begotten by the Holy Ghost, it would be very dangerous to baptize and confirm females & give the Holy Ghost to them, lest he should beget children…”
As always, we’re asking that you come alongside us in prayer for these dear people! I’ve no doubt the Mormon people love Jesus, but they need to know the Jesus they’re worshipig isn’t the Jesus of the Bible, thus our ministry work here!
With Love in Christ;

1 Cor 1:18
Pretty creepy.
Isn’t it though? What I’ll never understand is how they stand up there and teach these things knowing it’s all a lie. I think of all the very sincere people who are living Mormonism to the fullest and believing they’re serving the Jesus of the Bible…sigh…
We’re always in prayer they read their Bibles, question and then have the courage to walk. If Jesus could save someone like me, He can save anyone! 🙂
