General Conference, April 2015, “The Priesthood—a Sacred Gift”; “I echo the spirit of that special hymn and say to you: Come, all ye sons of God who have received the priesthood, let
us consider our callings; let us reflect on our responsibilities; let us determine our duty; and let us follow Jesus Christ, our Lord. While we may differ in age, in custom, or in nationality, we are united as one in our priesthood callings. …
Brethren, each of us has been entrusted with one of the most precious gifts ever bestowed upon mankind. As we honor our priesthood and live our lives so that we are at all times worthy, the blessings of the priesthood will flow through us. …
As bearers of the priesthood of God, we are engaged in the work of the Lord Jesus Christ. We have answered His call; we are on His errand. Let us learn of Him. Let us follow in His footsteps. Let us live by His precepts. By so doing, we will be prepared for any service He calls us to perform. This is His work. This is His Church. Indeed, He is our captain, the King of Glory, even the Son of God. I testify that He lives and bear this witness in His holy name.” – President Thomas S. Monson
1 Peter 2:9, 3:15; “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.”
The elderly man who stood at his worldwide pulpit lied.
Mr. Monson’s words did nothing but encourage people to believe his treacherous heresies. Hiding behind his placid mannerism lies defiance towards the God of the Bible, rejection of His Son, rejection of His word, and hatred for the body of Christ.
Every believer is a member of God’s royal priesthood; man, woman, black and white. Believers are reminded by the Apostle Peter to be ready in season and out to give a reason for our faith so ‘bearing’ a fallacious priesthood not ordained of God is meaningless.
The priesthood this man is talking about doesn’t exist. While believers are priests for God, we’re referred to only in the sense we can speak for God and we’re real life representations of Him.
The True Priesthood Holder is Christ Jesus – Hebrews chapters 7 through 11. His priesthood is nontransferable and He’s the Only holder of the Melchizedek Priesthood.
Furthermore, God’s most precious gift to mankind was His Son – Jesus. John 3:16
Then why don’t you and other believers act like you are a chosen generation having a royal priesthood, being part of a royal nation, being a peculiar people? Why don’t you send forth the praises of him? Because you are still in darkness.
President Monson didn’t lie or encourage people to believe in any heresy. He doesn’t reject the God of the Bible nor reject His Son or His word.
The priesthood that I hold is ordained of God and is not meaningless.
The priesthood that president Monson talks about does exist.
I am assuming you are another confrontational-Mormon. By your definition of priesthood, you are assuming that, “… believers” don’t act like that. Ok, what criteria are the “other believers” failing? How do you know they “aren’t sending forth praises of him”?
Do you or President Monson believe in the Triune God of the Bible? If not, you worship another Jesus.
The priesthood of the Mormon church is not biblical. How can you substantiate it?
