Decisions for Successful Living, pp. 164-165; “There is no truth more plainly taught in the Gospel than that our condition in the next world will
depend upon the kind of lives we live here. ‘All that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.’ (John 5:28-29.) Is it not just as reasonable to suppose that the conditions in which we now live have been determined by the kind of lives we lived in the pre-existent world of spirits? That the apostles understood this principle is indicated by their question to the Master when the man who was blind from his birth was healed of his blindness, ‘Master, who did sin, this man or his parents that he was born blind?’ (John 9:2.) Now perhaps you will have a partial answer to some of your questions as to why, if God is a just Father, that some of his children are born of an enlightened race and in a time when the Gospel is upon the earth, while others are born of a heathen parentage in a benighted, backward country; and still others are born to parents who have the mark of a black skin with which the seed of Cain were cursed and whose descendants were to be denied the rights of the priesthood of God” – LDS Prophet, Harold B. Lee, 1973
John 9:2-3; “And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? 3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.”
Remember, the mark of a cult is when an organization takes one verse out of context, and builds an entire doctrine upon it. Today’s the day we see that in action.
This Mormon prophet used John 9:2, and purposefully chose to stop there, and either omit, or ignore, the very next verse when Jesus told His disciples that neither the blind man, nor his parents had sinned.
Instead of using this passage as a means to glorify God, the Church has twisted what His word says for their own lustful, perverted ways. The irony in Lee’s words couldn’t be more evident in proving they’re the benighted, and backward people.
It’s not a matter of Mr. Lee growing up ‘back in the day and that’s what they all thought’. Rather, this is a matter of not having the light of God with him, and refusing to use a dictionary to study the word properly as the Bereans did (Acts 17:11).
Lastly, the Bible tells us God has made the world as a habitation for all nations, indicating He didn’t esteem one race over the other. He made one blood of all nations to reside upon the earth. Think about it.
