September 17 – 2 Peter 1:20; “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.”
_____
These stories and accounts the Church has given out as ‘gospel’ are formed from the private interpretation of man. Thus, take heed to what Peter really said in his second epistle.
_____
“One of those prophets, Elias, had the keys of authority for that dispensation. As part of the restitution of all things spoken of by the apostle Peter, Elias came to Joseph Smith in the KirtlandTemple on April 3, 1836, and committed the keys of Abraham’s dispensation to the modern restorer. In describing this event, Joseph and Oliver Cowdery said that “in us and our seed all generations after us should be blessed.” (D&C 110:12.) Remarkable, isn’t it? This modern reconfirmation of the promise of Abraham was now bestowed upon Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery, who were together in the temple at the time.” Mark E. Petersen, Abraham: Friend of God, 61.

2 Peter 1:20 This is the answer to all the LDS “prophet” talk. The Scripture (Bible) is interperted form other parts of the Scripture. This is the correct understanding and reading of the Word of God.
For new believers in Christianity, Get a KJV that is NOT with Mormon notes! A Study Bible wil have a center column with the cross references, or other verses in the Scripture, that will aid your understanding of the Bible.
Get an ESV Bible version and you will have more modern-day words. The ESV is the best translation other than the KJV. Nothing has been changed, added or deleted form the KJV as the Mormons would have you believe. They tell you this so you will read the Book of Mormon, D&C and other LDS works exclusively. But LDS writings are lies, made-up stories, and even plagerize parts of the Bible to make them ‘sound’ authentic.
Don’t let them tell you that you cannot read anything else. They don’t want you to leave their church and know the truth. Question authority and read the Bible alone!
