Sermons and Missionary Services of Melvin J. Ballard, p. 205; “I think the revelations which Jesus Christ gave through the Prophet Joseph Smith concerning motherhood are the greatest
contribution the world has ever received on this subject; for it was, so far as I know, never taught before in the history of the world that not only have we a Father in heaven, but we have a Mother there also. No matter to what heights God has attained or may attain, he does not stand alone; for side by side with him, in all her glory, a glory like unto his, stands a companion, the Mother of his children. For as we have a Father in heaven, so also we have a Mother there, a glorified, exalted, ennobled Mother. That is a startling doctrine, I recognize, to some folk, and yet we ought to be governed by reason in giving consideration to this doctrine which is a revelation from God.” – Bryant S. Hinckley
Isaiah 43:10-11; “Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. 11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.”
Isaiah 42:8; “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”
We’re not sure from where this goddess wife will be receiving her glory, but according to the Bible it’s not God.
It’s remarkable how this church has been able to take everything God has commanded us not to do, and brazenly propped them on a demonic pedestal with glorified lies, to entice the blind.
Adding insult to injury, they’ve also glorified Smith in their lies. Smith wasn’t the first to proclaim such a horrific ideology. Swedenborg published his Satanic theory on marriages in heaven shortly before Smith did (another ‘coincidence’?). Older still, are the ancient teachings from the BIBLE!
The term ‘mother in heaven’, and/or ‘queen of heaven’ shows up twice in the Bible, and both are found in the book of Jeremiah; Jeremiah 7:18 & Jeremiah 44:17-25.
In both instances we find God has warned the Israelites through His prophet Jeremiah that because of their harlotry in worshiping Ishtar, the punishment was about to come down on them. (Jer. 7:18). His second warning came in Jer. 44:17-25 because of their worship for Ashtoreth.
Both names were basically referring to the same pagan fertility goddess depending on where she was worshiped. She was believed to have been the wife of Ba’al, also known as Molech. Israelite women believed these goddesses held powers to help them conceive and have babies which at that time, was highly desirable.
The truth is that Ashtoreth, Ishtar, and Astarte were nothing more than pagan fertility goddesses. They paid adoration to her through libations, and sexual rites in temples throughout Babylon, and elsewhere. Most unfortunately, the Israelites chose to participate in the nefarious deeds.
