Today we’re wondering why the Church had to rely on others before they considered changing the dress code for missionaries serving in mosquito infested areas of the world.
On May 20, 2016, the Church announced they had authorized a slight change in their dress code for females who are out proselytizing. They’re now encouraged to wear dress slacks and/or long dresses and skirts to cover their legs.
However (and isn’t there always one of these for the Church?), they’re still required to wear “skirts or dresses when attending the temple and during Sunday worship services, conferences and baptismal services”.
We’re also wondering…aren’t mosquitoes more prevalent around water? Why are they wearing shorter skirts at baptisms? Also, why aren’t they following this same rule the entire time they’re serving? Do mosquitoes not bite people during Sacrament meetings?
Why didn’t their prophet receive a revelation from their god about this?
It may also come as a surprise to many they also authorized it’s okay to wear hats and sunglasses in areas where it’s sunny all the time to provide protection from UV rays.
If you’ve never seen their complete guidelines for dress and personal hygiene, here’s the link.
Forgive me if I seem sarcastic, it just doesn’t make a lot of sense…sigh…
We’re praying none of the missionaries are harmed in any way, and more importantly, they return to their homes and get saved!
