1 Nephi 16:28-29; “And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the pointers which were in the ball, that they did work according to the faith and diligence and heed which we did give unto them. 29 And there was also written upon them a new writing, which was plain to be read, which did give us understanding concerning the ways of the Lord; and it was written and changed from time to time, according to the faith and diligence which we gave unto it. And thus we see that by small means the Lord can bring about great things.”
Hebrews 11:6; “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
This is one of the many examples in Mormonism that brazenly displays their love for occult practices, and not God Almighty.
It’s also one of the topics in Mormonism that absolutely breaks my heart. The author of Hebrews didn’t beat around the bush when he said God rewards those who come to Him.
How can you please God by putting faith in a magic ball? Where is Jesus in all this?
This should be a wakeup call to all Mormons of how they need to take stock in whom, or what, they’re worshiping. This magic ball, or the Liahona as Mormons like to call it, is nothing but a form of sorcery and has no place in the life of a true believer.
Is that photo what this ball supposedly looked like? Does the LDS use this story, and the stone in the hat, in their teachings today?
Where or what books in the BOM do they actually talk about Jesus?
These are good, no, GREAT questions Miss Sue – Thanks for asking!!!
Your questions, my answers:
#1 – Is that photo what this ball supposedly looked like?
Yes, unfortunately it is.
#2 – Does the LDS use this story, and the stone in the hat, in their teachings today?
Yes, to the use of the ‘liahona’ story in their teaching manuals.
Texts/lessons for their
manuals are taken straight from the BoM, Their prophet/president has
even given a speech at a General Conference where he taught on how
their ‘patriarchal blessings’ are a modern day type of ‘liahona’. For more
info see General Conference, ‘Your Patriarchal Blessing A Liahona of
Light,’ October 1986.
Also see Melissa’s Patriarchal Blessing wherein she describes the
similarities between her Patriarchal Blessing and mysticism.
Yes, and no to the second part of the question about the
stone in the hat story. They write extensively about the stone in the hat
episode in the BYU papers which they’ll share on university level. By that
time and after many years, however, members have been ‘inoculated’ as
they say, against the shock of their lies.
#3 – Where or what books in the BOM do they actually talk about Jesus?
For all intents and purposes, every book in the BoM mentions Jesus.
However, each are taken out of context, and/or there’s an issue of timing
(anachronisms).
Nephi and his family used “faith and diligence” in Christ to use the Liahona in the desert to secure the will of God, yet you see in this nothing but the occult.
How about the magic branch of Aaron that sprouted living shutes that was placed in the the Ark. Oh, and let’s talk about this magic, occult Ark that the Israelites possessed that cause hemorrhoids in their enemies? Where was Christ in that? And what of the magic rocks the Israelites used in the days of Joshua that could mysteriously tell not only when Israel had sinned, but which tribe!
Occultism was rampant among the ancient Israelites!
H.G. Wells wrote a short story entitled THE CRYSTAL EGG, about an artifact that enabled people to see images in it. The images could be more clearly seen by placing black velvet over it in the light and by closing the blinds. Yet when Joseph Smith subdued the light around his stone by using a hat, suddenly it’s occultism at its finest!
When Noah’s great ship traversed the great flood, how did God light it during the day and the night? According to Dr. Hugh Nibley and even non-LDS scholars, it was magic stones that glowed. (See his article, STRANGE SHIPS AND SHINING STONES, available on the Internet, I believe.) Which is exactly how the Jaredites lighted their barges. Magic, magic everywhere and not a bulb to burn! And where was Jesus in any of this?
Simple. He was the great God of the Hebrews, and Israel!
Your criticisms continue to fall flat by any standard because you seek to judge God without knowing His ways. But He is in and through through all things.
You may think they fall flat Mr. Roberts, however, according to the Lord’s word, He’s not too keen on placing faith in anything outside of Himself.
If you place your faith in anything/anyone outside of Him, why pray tell are you worshiping God?
Mr. Roberts, Why are you here? LDS/MORMONISM doesn’t need your defense. If you’re interested in the Real Jesus, then WELCOME. If not, let us know why you’re here.
We know what lies Mormonism holds and the freedom in Christ; however, you don’t know the Real Jesus of the Bible but only Mormonism.
Therefore your arguments are moot.
