Today we’re looking at a couple of sermons Brigham delivered over a 4 month period of time. I noticed the discrepancies while working on another project several months ago.
Journal of Discourses 4:54 “We are of the earth, earthy; and our Father is heavenly and pure. But we will be glorified and purified, if we obey our brethren and the teachings which are given.” — Brigham Young, Great Salt Lake City, September 21, 1856
- 1 Corinthians 15:47 ‘The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.’
- Romans 8:30 “Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.”
Four months later…
Journal of Discourses 4:218 “Things were first created spiritually; the Father actually begat the spirits, and they were brought forth and lived with Him. Then He commenced the work of creating earthly tabernacles, precisely as He had been created in this flesh himself, by partaking of the course material that was organized and composed this earth, until His system was charged with it, consequently the tabernacles of His children were organized from the coarse materials of this earth.” — Brigham Young, Great Salt Lake City, February 8, 1857
- 1 Corinthians 15:46 “Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.”
Long story short, this is a classic example of a false prophet at work. It shows how Brigham was telling the truth two years prior when he said he didn’t trust the Bible, and hadn’t read it in years. See Mormons have Reason to Doubt Brigham’s Calling as Prophet.
More importantly, it shows how he didn’t care about what he was saying, which means he didn’t care about those he was leading. Although this took place over 160 years ago, it’s painfully obvious this behavior still happens today.
Leaders of the Church are still using snippets of the Bible they’ve denounced to lure people into their web of lies. It makes no difference what part of the Bible they plagiarize as they denounce it at the same time. What matters to these people are the numbers.
When the number of parishioners start going down, it stands to reason numbers in their checking account gets smaller. Thus, we see numerous sermons on trusting the prophet, ‘endure to the end’, and admonitions to stop doubting church leaders.
Pray for doubting members to get the courage to leave, and accept the Real Jesus of the Bible into their hearts!
Below is the passage of Paul’s teaching from 1 Corinthians 15.
1 Corinthians 15:44-47 “It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.”

“Ww will be glorified and purified,if we obey ort brethren and the teaching”. To me, this is saying that if we obey church law, we will be saved.
According to Romans 10:9,10: “That if we shall confess the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the HEART man, believeth unto righteousness (See Romans 3:22,) and with the mouth confession is made into salvation.”
In other words, becoming submissive to the Mormon Church and its teachings have nothing to do with salvation
