Journal of Discourses 13:125-126 “Jesus … established his kingdom on the earth…. the kingdoms of this world made war against the kingdom of God, established eighteen centuries ago, and they prevailed against it, and the kingdom ceased to exist. … This is what we believe; and it is the sincere belief and faith of the Latter-day Saints that we are in that kingdom. It is true that our King is now absent: he is in the heavens. But we expect him again; we look for him and he will come in his own due time… in organizing this kingdom He has restored all the essential characteristics of His kingdom in its embryo, or its beginning: such as inspired men, inspired prophets, inspired leaders, called by revelation to act in different positions.” — Orson Pratt, Salt Lake City, April 10, 1870
Matthew 16:18 “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
Although we’ve talked about this topic numerous times before, it always bears repeating! Today’s post also serves as a segue for what we’ll be looking at tomorrow. We’ll be posting several questions for the Mormon people about the need for a so-called ‘restoration’ with a challenge to think about their church activities in light of Smith’s brazenly false claims Jesus up and left His church.
For today we’re asking Mormons why they believe the presence of God is totally absent, thus creating the need for a restoration.
Where in the Bible does it say God abandoned His people when the last of the original apostles died?
How do you know for sure the protocols you’ve adopted were in the Bible, if the Church doesn’t believe the Bible has been translated correctly? Where did the new ordinances come from?
Whom do you believe is telling the truth – Orson Pratt, or Jesus?
If you’re LDS, please know that we’re praying for you, and we don’t publish these things to bash, or malign you. We’re sincerely concerned for your spiritual well-being and pray you have a saving knowledge of Christ Jesus and Him crucified.
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
