Journal of Discourses 4:373 “I wish to tell you a truth; it is God’s truth; it is eternal truth: neither you nor I would ever be prepared to be crowned in the celestial kingdom of our Father and our God, without devils in this world. Do you know that the Saints never could be prepared to receive the glory that is in reserve for them, without devils to help them to get it? … Some of you may think that this is a curious principle, but it is true.” — Brigham Young, Great Salt Lake, June 28, 1857
Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
Dictionary.com defines the word saint as ‘a person of great holiness’. We found it interesting Brigham was so fixated on making sure members of the Church knew they needed evil in life if they wanted true salvation.
Six months before Brigham gave the speech noted above (November 1856), he gave a similar talk reminding everyone the LDS Gospel Prepares Members to Become Devils.
If Mormonism was truly from our Lord wouldn’t He want believers to shun evil, and become more like Him? His word tells us that He’s a holy, Sovereign God which obviously means He has no needs.
Although it may seem this talk is a relic from the past, all of Mormonism is built upon the same principle. This doctrine can be seen throughout their teachings, and canon as well.
Pray for Mormons to turn from the witchcraft, and rely upon the Only True God of the Bible!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
Young was a madman. And yes his “fixation on evil” couldn’t be more telling even today. Because it is also said that money is the root of all evil. This church’s foundation is built upon BILLIONS…HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of dollars of mandatory tithing donations iligally massed. Think of all the good and charitable things the church could/should have been doing all along with this money.
The Church is incorrigible when it comes to the money issue. I was actually planning on writing about this in a few days, and then the news broke about the latest episode of insider info. Of course the Church will cry foul, and state that it comes from a disgruntled member/employee, but facts are facts.
What did Jesus say about his relationship with the devil?: “Hereafter, I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh AND HATH NOTHING IN ME.” (John 14: 30).
As for Brigham and Joe Smith, the Bible warns us about guys like this: “And through his policy (LDS Doctrine), also he shall cause craft gold plates and Mormonism) to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart (I am God’s Prophets); and by peace (family home evening) shall destroy many; he shall stand up against the Prince of Princes; but he shall be broken without hand.” (Daniel 8:25)
How did Jesus interact with the devil when subteley approached by him through Peter? “Then Peter took him and began to rebuke him, saying. Be it far from thee Lord, this shall not be unto thee. But he turned and said unto Peter, GET BEHIND ME SATAN, for thou art an offence unto me; for thou savourest not the things of God, but those of men.” (Matthew 16:22,23)
As for Mormon leaders, such as Joseph Smith, Brigham Young and today’s General Authorities: “For:such are false apostles, deceitful workers , transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel at this: for Satan himself is transformed into an angel (Moroni) of light (2 Corinthians 11: 13,14)
