General Conference, ‘Face the Future with Faith’, May 2011 “To develop enduring faith, an enduring commitment to be a full-tithe payer is essential. Initially it takes faith to tithe. Then the tithe payer develops more faith to the point that tithing becomes a precious privilege.” — Russell M. Nelson
2 Corinthians 9:7 “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.”
The Church has never followed the NT biblical standard for tithing, nor have they cared. This is seen in how they’ve instituted yet another law into their version of the gospel. Their church isn’t a restoration of the original Christian church, rather, it’s a new 19th century invention.
The Bible plainly spells out that each believer gives what the Lord has laid on his/her heart. Furthermore, there are no more ‘laws’, as Jesus came to fulfill all things. Sadly, the Mormon people have rejected what He said, hence, our LDS reference today.
Remind a Mormon how tithes we give are between the donor, and the Lord.
Lastly, how is it a ‘precious privilege’ to tithe when your salvation depends on it? This isn’t a privilege, but works. Giving to an organization who has closed books, and hordes billions of dollars isn’t a sound practice – financially, or spiritually.

Tithing and Tithing settlement. How come no Honesty Settlement; Pornography Settlement; Gambling Settlement, Cheating Settlement, Profanity Settlement or Adultery Settlement? Why, because its all about the money.
If I was a missionary in some poor country, I would feel terrible explaining the LDS tithing Laws to a family that doesn’t have enough to, buy a new pair of shoes.or fix the leaky roof over their hut.
The church doesn’t t care. LDS Speakers always have examples to cite of people that had nothing, paying what little they had for tithing and miraculously found themselves uplifted out of poverty. First, I believe that many of these stories are made up in order to stoke the faith of the members. Second, what about examples of faithful tithe payers that lost jobs ,and have nothing to eat or the rent money to put a roof over their heads. Let them get up and speak at GC and tell the audience what the church did for them?
I’m always humbled and amazed at how Christ takes care of His Bride. Whatever the need, the body of believers step up and take care of it. And that’s without mandatory tithing. No apostasy, no falling away. Christ built His Church, and it never left, or failed to exist EVER. And we don’t stock pile hundreds of billions of dollars either. My church is accountable for every cent.
