January 9 – Mormonism’s Reprobate Adamic Language. Titus 1:15-16 “Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. 16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.”

The word reprobate in the Greek means worthless. In a modern English dictionary we find it can mean shameless. Today as you read this reference in Mormon Doctrine, keep Paul’s admonition in mind. McConkie taught meaningless things that are indeed worthless, and did so without shame. Ask the Mormon in your life if he/she has ever heard of, or used, this so-called Adamic language. What does this have to do with the Lord, why did they say it was the ‘tongue of the gods’, and why would Joseph Smith teach such a thing?

Mormon Doctrine, p. 19 “Adamic Language … In the beginning God gave Adam a language that was pure, perfect, and undefiled. This Adamic language, now unknown, was far superior to any tongue which is presently extant…This first language spoken by mortals was either the celestial tongue of the Gods or such adaptation of it as was necessary to meet the limitations of mortality; and Adam and his posterity had power to speak, read, and write it. (Way to Perfection, pp. 60-69.)”
