Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.”
Doctrines of Salvation 1:58 “THE FIRST MAN OF ALL MEN.” Many revelations attest the truth that Adam was the first man. The Prophet corrected the genealogy of Christ as given in Luke so that it includes this statement: “Adam who was formed of God, and the first man upon the earth.” — Joseph Fielding Smith
Luke 3:23-38 “And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli… 38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.”
Today we’re going to forego the blasphemous writings surrounding the LDS reference above, so we can focus on one thing. Why did Joe Smith feel it necessary to correct God’s perfect word?
You can read about the importance of Jesus’ genealogy in a great article at Answersingenesis.org where they methodically explain why each word in Matthew’s and Luke’s gospel are vital in establishing trust in the person of Jesus.
The Church goes out of its way downplaying facts, and especially when it comes to anything about the Lord.
You can find Smith’s rewrite of Luke’s gospel in full, including the quote above, at Centerplace.org, which is the site of the RLDS (now known as Church of Christ). The mainstream LDS Church has only portions of the Joseph Smith Translation (JST).
As a church who puts so much emphasis on genealogy, you’d think they’d get this one right. Explain to the Mormon you know why this is so important!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
