December 19 — Two Opposing Agendas. Isaiah 50:5 “The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.”
John 12:27 “Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.”

Shortly after the Lord Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead (John 11:41), He rode into Jerusalem on a colt. People from all over rushed into town just to get a glimpse of the man who performed such a great miracle. Streets were pregnant with people waving palm branches as He made His way into town. Already, many Jews believed in Him because of the miracle He performed. The commotion surrounding Him didn’t distract Him at all.
The Lord had one agenda.
He knew His cruel death lay ahead, alas, it didn’t deter His mission, for He was committed to carrying out the will of His Father.
The man from Galilee would soon be hanging on a cross.
Fast forward 2,000 years, and we see another man whose agenda was set on one thing as well. Rebellion. While the outcome of this man’s agenda was death, it was neither noble, nor useful.
This man made it his mission to rebel against the God of the Bible. Long before a supposed vision in the woods, Joseph Smith had been a dutiful practitioner of witchcraft, and digging in the ground for buried treasure. He claimed God appeared to him, with the command not to believe Christians. Everything in this ‘vision’ was in direct opposition to all God had said in His word.
Instead of obedience until death, Joe Smith proved to be a man whose rebellion led to his death.

Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 372 “Many men say there is one God; the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are only one God!8 I say that is a strange God anyhow—three in one, and one in three! It is a curious organization. … All are to be crammed into one God, according to sectarianism. It would make the biggest God in all the world. He would be a wonderfully big God—he would be a giant or a monster.”
Links for the reference in Smith’s text are listed below. Each one declares their belief in a triune god.
