Doctrine and Covenants 130:3 “Items of instruction given by Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Ramus, Illinois, April 2, 1843.” …
“John 14:23—The appearing of the Father and the Son, in that verse, is a personal appearance; and the idea that the Father and the Son dwell in a man’s heart is an old sectarian notion, and is false.”
Alma 34:36 “And this I know, because the Lord hath said he dwelleth not in unholy temples, but in the hearts of the righteous doth he dwell; yea, and he has also said that the righteous shall sit down in his kingdom, to go no more out; but their garments should be made white through the blood of the Lamb.”
1 Corinthians 14:33 “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
Today we’re looking at a simple comparison in LDS scriptures as we pray for LDS members to stop and think about their own canon.
Two days after Joe Smith met his 3rd cousin Oliver Cowdery on April 5, 1829, they began writing the BoM and completed their work in three months. For more info see Book of Mormon Translation.
We ask in all sincerity, if you’re LDS which teaching of Joseph Smith do you believe?
If Smith translated the BoM in 1829, why did he say something totally different just thirteen years later?
Would a true prophet of God contradict himself if he was telling the truth?
With Love in Christ –—
Michelle
I wonder if anyone every counted up the contradictions in Mormonism. — there has to be at least a couple thousand!
Sadly, that # is probably not that far off. 🙁
