General Conference, ‘Why the Covenant Path’, April 2021 “…there are many who, while not on the covenant path themselves, act in a way that mirrors the choices and contributions of those who are on the path. You might say they reap the blessings of walking a “covenant-consistent” path. What, then, is the difference of the covenant path?
Actually, the difference is uniquely and eternally significant. It includes the nature of our obedience, the character of God’s commitment to us, the divine help we receive, the blessings tied to gathering as a covenant people, and most importantly, our eternal inheritance.” — D. Todd Christofferson [emp. added]
Malachi 3:6 “For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” [emp. added]
Today we’re looking at another quote from a talk given by D. Todd Christofferson at the latest General Conference. The reason for breaking this talk up is because of the numerous blasphemous things he said and we believe it’d be better to look at them individually.
While the majority, if not all, talks given at any GC are filled with lies we’ve noticed over the years that some are worse than others.
The manner in which Mr. Christofferson phrased his words describing our Lord is what jumped out to us – hence, our article today.
No doubt the path to eternity is unique for each for each person, but God’s commitment never has been. Neither has the ‘character’ of His commitment.
Salvation has never been determined on a sliding scale basis and trying to teach otherwise is a doctrine of demons — 1 Timothy 4:1.*
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils”.
While Mr. Christofferson intimated God will honor those who are obedient, the problem is multifaceted.
If the Mormon god changed his mind and left earth with the death of the last original apostle, how can you trust he wouldn’t do such a thing again?
If salvation is determined on an individual’s work and the covenant path they supposedly followed, what about my family? My great-grandparents (and those before them) were polygamists. Were they more worthy of salvation than the active LDS member today?
Oh beloved, the character of God’s commitment to us remains unchanged, just as He declared through Moses!
Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”
Another reminder is in Hosea 11:9. Stating that God’s character of commitment is dependent on our behavior is nothing more than an attack on the character of God Almighty Himself.
Be sure to share these truths with a Mormon you know and let them know you’re praying for them!
With Love in Christ —
Michelle

[…] LDS: Character of God’s Commitment Changes […]
Interesting that even by Mormon scripture, namely 3 Nephi 27, this is blasphemy.
it is pretty terrible to misrepresent what genuine Christians actually believe. This article makes a complete hash of the subject. You either didn’t understand what Elder Christofferson was saying or deliberately misinterpret it. In that case, you would be lying. That’s a sin, you know.
Hello TRYTOSEEITMYWAY,
Thank you for posting your comment. Could you please define “genuine Christian”? Exactly how does this article make a hash of the subject? And please explain how the author misrepresented Mr. Christofferson?
Thank you very much, Melissa
