June 19 – Ps. 73:24-25; “Thou shalt guide me with they counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but thee? And there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.”

I am constantly amazed how God knew every single thought of man even before they came into existence. He knew what Joseph Smith would write as ‘gospel’ for the people and has provided us with the tools to show Mormons how once again, the teachings of the LDS Church are wrong.

“We expect to have our wives and husbands in eternity. We expect our children will acknowledge us as their fathers and mothers in eternity. I expect this: I look for nothing else. Without it I could not be happy. The thought or belief that I should be denied this privilege hereafter would make me miserable from this moment. I never could be happy again without the hope that I shall enjoy the society of my wives and children in eternity”. Gospel Doctrine, p. 314, Joseph F. Smith.
Oh Joe. How you blaspheme the Living God and make Him of no value. I fear it is not going well with you. Heaven is about God…..not about you.
Sorry, but in our fallen state God cannot make a promise like that. He can’t guarantee our loved ones will be in heaven. Why? Because it’s up to us as individuals. We have a choice to make. That choice is to acknowledge we are sinners and accept God’s gracious gift of of salvation (eternal life) through the death, burial, and resurrection of His son Jesus… Or not. My choice, my consequences. Not God’s.
That being said, the beginning of Genesis, gives us a glimpse of paradise, before the fall. There was no pain, grief or suffering. No hunger, or thirst. Perfect weather in perfect harmony.
Our loved ones have the same choice, they can accept or reject to live in harmony with God. If they accept, they will be perfected (not their merits, but Jesus’), Which, again means living with no pain or grief etc… What’s important to think about at this point is, we won’t be grieving over loved ones not there. Yes, it seems like an issue now in this life, but God promises us, not in the next. There will be loved ones left behind, and as Christians we understand this. Does it break our hearts now…. absolutely. But God has a much better understanding and plan for us.
You can go to the temple a million times to seal your families. Sorry, but God still can’t promise “forever families”, He just can’t.
