The Gospel Through the Ages, p. 51 “Jesus became a God and reached His
great state of understanding through consistent effort and continuous obedience to all the Gospel truths and universal laws.” – Seventy Milton R. Hunter
John 1:1, 14 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
The word ‘Buddha’ means the ‘awakened one’, or the ‘enlightened one’, and if you read anything about the original Buddha, you’ll find that he was a mere man born c. BC 600-400. Apparently, the man was born to a higher class of parents, and soon after discovering other people were far less fortunate than he, began writing on how people should live their lives.
Hindus believe in reincarnation which is the concept that after death, the soul becomes a new life in various forms which could include animals. They must live through various forms of karma to reach their ultimate utopia.
Looking further into Mormonism you’ll find similar beliefs in both religions. For example; there is no permanent heaven or hell, and everyone born is intrinsically good. Other similar beliefs include the idea that immaterial matter is eternal, and there is no such thing as a true creation because everything has always existed.
Questions:
How did Jesus become a god if he hadn’t inherited his own planet yet?
Why does a so-called Christian organization resemble these pagan religions?
We’re praying for Mormons to see the truth in what we’ve presented here. We originally posted this a few years ago and received some not-so-friendly responses.
Please, pray for members to see the truth and in a loving manner ask for their opinion about these things.
With Love in Christ —
Michelle
[…] Is the Mormon Jesus a Hindu, a Buddhist, or??? […]
That citation puts them on a par with Jehovah’s Witnesses who say Jesus was “a god.”
