December 1 – Hebrews 2:17-18 “Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.”

This month we’re going to be looking at the person of Jesus Christ. We’ll be investigating the prophecies in the Old Testament, His earthly ministry and the crucifixion. Use these as ways to witness to your Mormon friends.
Today we learn from His holy word that He makes intercession for us to reconcile us to God, but the Mormons would have you believe Jesus had to earn His way to the priesthood.

“If a man gets a fullness of the priesthood of God, he has to get it in the same way that Jesus Christ obtained it, and that was by keeping all the commandments and obeying all the ordinances of the house of the Lord.” — Joseph Smith, History of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7 vols., introduction and notes by B. H. Roberts, 5:424.
[…] Did Jesus Earn His Priesthood? […]
[…] Did Jesus Earn His Priesthood? […]
It should be a red flag if a so called christian church denies Jesus is God and doesn’t have the same power as God, that just leaves the door wide open to false priesthoods and false prophets.
Jesus is God and therefore didn’t earn His Priesthood.

AMEN to that sister!!!
The quote by Joseph Smith really exposes his misunderstanding of priesthood. To say that Jesus obtained priesthood by keeping all the commandments and all the ordinances in the house of the Lord is as unbiblical as it gets.
First: ‘It is evident that our LORD sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.’ Hebrews 7:15 ‘No stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron was to come near.’ Numbers 16:31 ‘Let none come into the house of the LORD, save the priests, and they that minister of the Levites.’ 2 Chronicles 23:6 ‘And the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.’ Numbers 1:51
Second: ‘Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest!’ but he that said unto him, ‘Thou art my Son! Thou art a priest forever!’ Hebrews 5:5-6.
Third: We read, ‘For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son.’ Hebrews 7:28
I could stop there, but . . .
Fourth: Joseph Smith changed the description of Melchizedek to a description of a priesthood in Hebrews 7:3 to promote a feral priesthood making God a liar. He introduced a variant priesthood and what’s worse he adds these words; ‘all those who are ordained unto this priesthood.’
Fifth: No tribe outside Levi was honored with priesthood! And honored is the correct word because priesthood was by lineage, not ordination by laying on of hands.
Sixth: ‘And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.’ Hebrews 7:23-24
The Geneva Bible states it this way: ‘But this man, because he endureth ever, hath a Priesthood, which cannot pass from one to another.’
Joseph Smith makes such a mess of priesthood. And now in the LDS church, we have this hierarchy of priesthood which is a governing body and I’m holding back when I say its a good old boys club designed to keep those in power- in power using keys of a rogue priesthood.
It’s an absolutely un-recognizable priesthood wholly apart from God’s word. There is so much more that could be said on this.
Well said my friend!
