December 23 – LDS: Christianity Requires Perfection. Isaiah 62:5; “For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.”

John 3:29; “He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.”
Before I became a Christian, I had no idea the body of Christ as looked upon as Jesus’ bride. The only time I recall hearing the ‘M’ word being used in a doctrinal sense, always had to do with the mandate of marriage for salvation.
The heavy emphasis of Christianity being the ‘whores of Babylon’ overshadowed any and all teachings, of God rejoicing over us.
For the Christian, this is glorious news! He rejoices over us!
Do share this with a Mormon you know – and soon. By and large, members of the Church typically have a woe-is-me disposition which stems from having no hope. Don’t be shy in letting them know how much God truly loves them!

The Miracle of Forgiveness [Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1969, p. 204 “This progress toward eternal life is a matter of achieving perfection. Living all the commandments guarantees total forgiveness of sins and assures one of exaltation through that perfection which comes by complying with the formula the Lord gave us. In his Sermon on the Mount he made the command to all men: “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (Matt. 5:48.) Being perfect means to triumph over sin. This is a mandate from the Lord.” – Spencer W. Kimball

The miracle of having my eyes opened is truly a pearl of great price….if you know what I mean. Spencer, Spencer, Spencer…..you have chutzpah. Say that “living all the commandments guarantees total forgiveness of sins and assures one of exaltation” is blasphemy. Faith in Jesus Christ and confessing I am a sinner is what the Word tells us, period.
Amen a million times over!
I second that AMEN Sandra,
We are NOT perfect by anything we do, we are perfect only because of what Jesus did on our behalf.

What He’s done for all of us is nothing less than breathtaking! 🙂
