January 13 — Speaking Against Polygamy Brings Damnation. Journal of Discourses 5:203 “The principle of plurality of wives never will be done away” (Deseret News, November 7, 1855.)
Kimball also said, “You might as well deny Mormonism and turn away from it, as to oppose the plurality of wives. Let the Presidency of this Church, and the Twelve Apostles, and all the authorities unite and say with one voice that they will oppose that doctrine, and the whole of them will be damned”. – Heber C. Kimball, Salt Lake City, October 12, 1856

Leviticus 18:17-18 “Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son’s daughter, or her daughter’s daughter, to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness.18 Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time.”
_____
At the time Kimball made this announcement he was an apostle. His grandson Spencer W. Kimball became the twelfth prophet of the Church.
Heber C. Kimball shared his wife Vilate with Joseph Smith and even gave his 14-year-old daughter to Smith as a wife.
His most famous quote; “I think no more of taking another wife than I do of buying a cow”. See The 27th Wife, p. 101.
Aside from all that stuff this qualifies as a false prophecy.
The Church had to publicly denounce polygamy. See OFFICIAL DECLARATION—1.
If you’re LDS what are your thoughts about the activities of the Church?

Oh my goodness. They are so full of it. Dirty old men. Shame on them. People say Mormons are so nice. I am sorry, but I think they are in La La land. They need to start thinking for themselves. Use the brain God gave you, instead of believing anything and everything.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. In 1831 he was 26+ years old. Thery are without excuse.
Oh, my goodness. Michelle is so full of it. Lying and deceiving like a dirty old hag. Shame on her. People like you and LAM(e) are so ignorant. I think you all dwell in la lal land. Need to start thinking for yourself. You know use the brain God gave you instead of believing anything and everything without question. That is what you call blind faith.
Not very Christ like of you to call people names, but evidently it’s ok for your Christ. For the record, Michelle has never once called anyone name on her sites. She sites her sources and brings the receipts. If you don’t like people teaching Biblical TRUTH…well that’s on you. If she’s wrong…prove it without the childish name calling. But if you respond, you better bring the facts, to counter each issue she brought up in this article.

Hello anonymous –
I’d like to address you with your real name. Nevertheless, the Lord knows your name so when I pray for you, He’ll know.
For what it’s worth, being called a dirty old hag isn’t all that shocking. I’ve been called much worse. The shock value wore itself off long ago.
I have to say that your reaction is exactly why I’m in ministry. It breaks my heart that you seem so angry. I pray that Jesus intervenes and that you’ll allow Him into your heart.
I always tell everyone that if you see anything on any of my sites that is incorrect, PLEASE let me know so I can correct the info and publicly apologize.
That goes for you as well.
God bless,
Michelle
Why are you on here if you think LAM are so ignorant?
You mentioned a name and said she was lying and deceiving. I said dirty old men. No names. And you said people like you and LAM are so ignorant. If you don’t want the truth then why are you on here? You don’t like the truth do you? God knows you and he knows the lies of the Mormon church.

Sorry, not sorry…I watch the train wreck called “Sister Wives. 3 of the 4 wives left Kody Brown. So he is now monogamous, and now claims he never loved them, he was just did it for the church status.
One wife met a great guy and recently got married. She’s in her early 50’s and experienced true love for the first time. And is excited about the little things. She mentioned for the first time she got to have the luggage rack in the hotel room. Her husband pulled it out and set her suitcase on it.
Melissa
It’s not surprising the lifestyle of Mr. Brown produced the disaster it did. The anger, confusion and mistrust it causes isn’t a lot different than the email seen above by the LDS person who wrote in.
We must all be diligent to pray for them and thank Jesus for saving us!
You are such a hypocrite. Funny, I did not see you call out the other anonymous who said this:
“Oh my goodness. They are so full of it. Dirty old men. Shame on them. People say Mormons are so nice. I am sorry, but I think they are in La La land. They need to start thinking for themselves. Use the brain God gave you, instead of believing anything and everything.”
Now tell me – how is that Christ like? Is not that person calling people names and attacking them? How dare you judge me and yet not judge the other person.
I simply used the same type of rhetoric. So, either call the other anonymous out for stating the above or apologize for hypocrisy.
Your choice. Oh, and you did not bring receipts – whatever that means – because of bias and prejudicial religious bigotry.
By the way, I came across your pedestrian blog when I was researching polygamy and found someone else’s blog where they responded to you and provided actual information on this subject.
I am not calling people names. Men being with underage girls and taking them as a wife. Just being truthful. God gave you a brain, you need to use it. The truth hurts. I am not attacking anyone.
You are not calling anyone names and yet use the phrase “Dirty old men” You must be lying and dishonest then. If that is not calling people names then calling the writer a “dirty old hag” is not name calling. Get over yourself.
Yeah I got a brain – I know how to think. Maybe take your own advice.
I am not the one who has an issue with the truth – I truthfully pointed out the follow in the comment and then pointed out the hypocrisy for not calling out the other person for engaging in such asinine commentary. Again, get over yourself.
They are in la la land is being nice. I could have said something else but it wouldn’t be Christ like. Have a nice life. Sorry you don’t like the truth.🙏🙏🙏🙏God will reveal hisself to you.
You know how to think then quit following the lies of the Mormon church. Dirty old men is just speaking the truth. God help you. Get over myself😭🤣😭Your funny. Get over Joseph smith and your so called prophets. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏Have a nice life.
I happened to come across your blog. It was linked to someone else’s blog where they responded to this. Here is a summation of that response:
In response to the Life After Ministries blog post titled “Speaking Against Polygamy Brings Damnation,” it’s important to address the historical and doctrinal contexts of early Latter-day Saint teachings on polygamy, particularly those of Heber C. Kimball. Critics often cite statements from early Church leaders to portray polygamy as a mandatory practice for salvation, suggesting that opposing it leads to damnation. However, such interpretations frequently overlook the nuanced and evolving nature of Church doctrine and the principle of continuing revelation.
Historical Context of Polygamy in the Church
Polygamy, or plural marriage, was introduced in the early Church through a revelation received by Joseph Smith, now recorded in Doctrine and Covenants Section 132. This practice was seen as a commandment from God, akin to those given to biblical patriarchs like Abraham and Jacob. During the mid-19th century, leaders such as Heber C. Kimball emphasized the importance of adhering to this commandment, often using strong language to underscore its significance. For instance, Kimball is recorded as saying, “Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned.” It’s crucial to understand that such statements were made in a specific historical and cultural context, where the practice was intertwined with the community’s identity and religious obligations.
The Principle of Continuing Revelation
Central to Latter-day Saint belief is the concept of continuing revelation, meaning that God provides guidance to His children according to the needs and circumstances of different eras. While polygamy was practiced in the 19th century, subsequent revelations led to its discontinuation. In 1890, President Wilford Woodruff issued Official Declaration 1, which marked the end of new plural marriages in the Church. This shift demonstrates the dynamic nature of revelation and the Church’s commitment to follow divine direction as circumstances evolve.
Addressing Logical Fallacies in Criticisms
Critics like those from Life After Ministries often employ logical fallacies, such as cherry-picking statements without considering their broader context. By isolating quotes from leaders like Heber C. Kimball, they portray the practice of polygamy and its associated teachings in a misleading light. It’s essential to recognize that these statements were made in a time when polygamy was considered a divine commandment. As the Church received further revelation, practices and teachings evolved, reflecting a commitment to follow God’s will in all periods.
Conclusion
Understanding the historical context and the principle of continuing revelation is vital when discussing past practices like polygamy in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While early leaders emphasized adherence to what was then a commandment, the cessation of polygamy through later revelation illustrates the Church’s dedication to following divine guidance. Criticisms that fail to consider this context often misrepresent the faith’s doctrines and history.

Any thoughts on what this person is saying?
Many of Joe’s wives were already wives of other men. He was a serial adulterer.
You’re absolutely right – and Smith’s track record speaks for itself.
