March 25 — Brigham’s 1852 Testimony on Slavery, Curse of Cain… pt. 2. Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

In part 1 of our mini-series, we saw what Brigham Young thought about Adam and Eve. In the article I gave a reference for Brigham’s talk and didn’t realize there were actually two talks he gave before the legislature. Oh my!
Long story short the reference I listed was for his 2nd talk on February 5, 1852, but the 1st presentation was on January 23, 1852. Today we’re looking at what he said in his 1st presentation. Don’t be surprised if you see more references from this in the future – so here we go!
One more thing. I don’t know why I keep saying nothing else will surprise me because what comes out of the mouths of these people does indeed shock me.
That said, as many people know, Brigham was a heartless person, but this took it to another level altogether. He obviously wasn’t knocking on Jesus’ door.
For now we’re looking at a few comments he made. To read his speech in full see Brigham Young, Speech Before the Utah Territorial Legislature, Jan. 23, 1852,
Here’s what this guy said –
I would like masters to behave well to their servants, and to see that every person in this territory is well used. When a master has a Negro and uses him well, he is much better off than if he was free.
As for masters knocking them down and whipping them and breaking the limbs of their servants, I have as little opinion of that as any person can have; but good wholesome servitude, I know there is nothing better than that.

This guy was a classic example of evil. How dare he even think such things let alone say them aloud. As one of my grandfathers used to say, ‘God’s going to get them for that’ and he was right.
Revelation 21:8 “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Pray for those who hold this man in such high regard and turn to Christ Jesus and Him crucified.
With Love in Christ –

🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏God have mercy on them.
Well, B.Y. checked off all the boxes in Rev 21:8. One might argue he didn’t murder anyone.. But Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount, if you hate your neighbor, you’ve committed murder in your heart.
But guess what? We’ve All checked off all the boxes in Rev 21: 8, including myself. But the issue is, what you do with your sin. You can place it at the foot of the Cross, and trust in His finished work ALONE, ultimately being judged in His righteousness. Or you can continue trusting in your own self-righteousness.
