March 6 — Godhood Requires Perfection Now. Miracle of Forgiveness, pp. 209-210 “Perfection really comes through overcoming… Christ became perfect through overcoming. Only as we overcome shall we become perfect and move toward godhood. As I have indicated previously, the time to do this is now, in mortality.” — Spencer Kimball, 1969
_____
John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

I could write a book of quotes using Kimball’s Miracle of Forgiveness. Many members of the Church dismiss what he wrote for a number of reasons. One is because they say he was only an apostle at the time and not speaking as a prophet. As we pointed out yesterday, they don’t promote it but they’ll quote from it.
The biggest problem with the reference today is the statement that Christ became perfect through overcoming.
1.Jesus didn’t become perfect. He was already perfect! We looked at this in a previous article where Nelson claimed Jesus became perfect when He was resurrected. Nelson said this a month before Kimball died.
2.It goes without saying there’s no such thing as becoming a god. God said He wouldn’t share His glory. Isaiah 42:8
“I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”
3.As Jesus said in John 16:33 He had overcome the world.
Kimball already knew they couldn’t become gods until they’re resurrected.
_____
This man lied to members of the Church just as all the other leaders have done. Kimball served as the prophet from 1973-1985 and had a lot of influence over a long period of time.
Please pray for these dear people to question what they’re taught!

It’s amazing they will listen to a sinner, but won’t listen to God and his word.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
It is indeed! I often think of Galatians 1:6, 2 Corinthians 4:4, 11:13-15, Mt. 7:14, Duet 18:20-22… the list is quite extensive!
Was responding to a Mormon comment on u tube. Then a Mormon responded why read the Bible, just to follow commandments? They stated they believed the church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. I said read the Bible because it’s God’s word. God can speak to you through his word. Have a relationship with God, not a religion. Follow God, not man.🙏🙏🙏🙏 for them all.
Oh bless you for taking the time to witness! I hold firm to what His word says in Isaiah 55:11 – His word never comes back void! 🙂

So what if Kimball wrote the book when he was only an apostle; didn’t the New Testament apostles write most of the New Testament? If Mormonism is truly a “restoration” of Christianity, then why don’t Mormon apostles have the same authority as New Testament apostles?
Amen! It stands to reason they would/should have the same authority as the original apostles had!
