Deuteronomy 17:17 “Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.”
April 7 — Joseph Smith’s Invitation to Polygamy. Nauvoo Roots of Mormon Polygamy 1841-1846 A Preliminary Demographic Report, p. 12 “An Invitation from the Prophet To Marry Plural Wives
Although he insisted that the practice of polygamy remain secret, Joseph Smith introduced his teaching about plural wives to thirty families of his close followers among the 15,000 Mormons living in and around Nauvoo.[38] When he denied from the pulpit having plural wives, at least 100 other polygamous adults sitting in the congregation knew about the secret doctrine. …
The thirty polygamous husbands from 1841 up to Joseph Smith’s death on June 27, 1844, had married a total of 114 legal and plural wives, who had borne 131 children.

Nine wives (27 percent) were twenty-one to thirty years old. Eight wives (24 percent) were in Smith’s own peer group, ages thirty one to forty.”

In 2020 we posted an article about other lies the Church has told about their polygamy problem. For more info see Mormon Lies About Polygamous Population. The Church wanted people to believe that only a small percentage of people were into polygamy but that wasn’t true.
Long story short they’ve been carrying on the sordid escapades from the start.
Smith’s sermon on that day was reprehensible as was the non-reaction of those who endorsed his shoddy behavior.
I just can’t imagine being in that congregation and not reacting to what he said.
When/if you have an opportunity ask the Mormon you know for their opinion about what he said. I know that as a Christian I’d get up and leave if I knew the pastor was lying.
Pray for Mormons to see the futility of their ‘new and everlasting covenant’ and turn to the Lord!

[…] Joseph Smith’s Invitation to Polygamy – Nauvoo Toots to Mormon Polygamy […]
When I read more about polygamy, it’s creepy. When the LDS says prophet, I don’t think of the great prophets in the Bible. I think of men like Warren Jeffs and their so called prophets. Their prophets give me the creeps. Sorry to say, but it’s being truthful. Polygamy was never from God. The LDS prophets just said that because they wanted to have more than one sexual partner and I guess if they thought they were married to them all, then they weren’t committing adultery.😢 I don’t know any woman that would believe her husband if he said God told him to commit polygamy. That’s so sad, that women went along with it.
Oh, don’t be sorry to say the truth! 😉
The LDS prophets should give everyone the creeps. I’ve always thought of them as greasy.
You’re right about polygamy never being from God. Where in the Bible did He ever command it?
The polygamy issue is one of those topics that makes my heart so sad. It had a definite impact on my family.
Sorry for the pain you went through.😢😢

Many of Smith’s “wives” were already married. He invented the polygamy “prophecy” to cover for his affairs we was having while still in Ohio!
He was a charlatan from the word go!
Yes he was, tell that to a Mormon.😄
