“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” 1 Thessalonians 5:21
October 14 — Today we’re looking at two things the new LDS prophet/president Dallin Oaks has said in the past to give readers a clear understanding of where this guy is coming from.
The first thing listed is how Oaks said it was wrong to criticize leaders. This is cult behavior. Not questioning something means they’re attempting to dumb down believers and guilting them into not questioning anything they hear or read.
1.Ensign, ‘Criticism, February 1987 “Criticism is particularly objectionable when it is directed toward Church authorities, general or local. Jude condemns those who ‘speak evil of dignities.’ Evil speaking of the Lord’s anointed is in a class by itself. It is one thing to depreciate a person who exercises corporate power or even government power. It is quite another thing to criticize or depreciate a person for the performance of an office to which he or she has been called of God. It does not matter that the criticism is true.” – Dallin H. Oaks
The second thing we’re looking at is when Oaks said that it’s okay to lie.
2.Oaks: Gospel Teachings About Lying 1994, p. 8 “We must not lie, but we are free to tell less than we know when we have no duty to disclose… One is not a liar when one remains silent in a circumstance in which there is no duty to disclose.” – Dallin H. Oaks
Paraphrasing someone on another site how is a false prophet ever known when the Church is set up to protect them?
What’s the bottom line in all this?
Although no one leading the Church is trustworthy Mr. Oaks seems to be in a class by himself (pun intended).
Pray that Mormons will see through his lies and question everything as it says in Acts 17:11 —
“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
With Love in Christ —
