December 28 — General Conference, October 1, 1967 “Gratitude to Mother Eve …One of these days, if I ever get to where I can speak to Mother Eve, I want to thank her for tempting Adam to partake of the fruit. He accepted the temptation, with the result that children came into this world. And when I kneel in prayer, I feel to thank Mother Eve, for if she hadn’t had that influence over Adam, and if Adam had done according to the commandment first given to him, they would still be in the Garden of Eden and we would not be here at all. We wouldn’t have come into this world. So the commentators made a great mistake when they put in the Bible at the top of page 3, as I think it is (it may not be the same page in every Bible), the statement “Man’s shameful fall.”” — Joseph Fielding Smith
_____
Proverbs 3:7 “Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.”
_____
Proverbs 14:16 “A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.”
_____
Although we’ve looked at this before it bears repeating in light of an email I received about this topic.
We have just a couple of questions:
Why would a true man of God say these things? The Bible says, “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.” 1 Samuel 15:23.
Furthermore, his lame attempt at justifying what Adam and Eve did is just wrong! He’s twisting the reality of what they did to suit his own purpose. The Bible says, “Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more.” Psalm 104:35.
When was the last time you praised your child for disobeying?
This man lied to the Mormon people and its effects still linger today. The Bible says that “Lying lips are abomination to the LORD..”. Proverbs 12:22
Pray for Mormons to reject everything this man has ever said and show why its unbiblical!
With Love in Christ —

[…] LDS Prophet Praises Eve for Sinning […]
Bizarre, simply bizarre!
Hi Glenn –
I agree 100%! Why would you think this way? It makes me sad for people like my mother. The more you sink further into thinking like this the harder your heart becomes. 🙁
