February 9 — Journal of Discourses 2:184 “The seed of Ham, which is the seed of Cain descending through Ham, will, according to the curse put upon him, serve his brethren, and be a “servant of servants” to his fellow-creatures, until God removes the curse…The conduct of the whites towards the slaves will…send both slave and master to hell…The blacks should be used like servants, and not like brutes, but they must serve. Here in the Bible, we have proof that God has NEVER sanctioned slavery – EVER. The practice of this absolute evil is the work of Satan and mankind bought into the lies Satan fed to him. Those who sanctioned slavery either by participation or silence will be held accountable.
Brigham’s words are reprehensible. Unfortunately, the Church condones what this man said and even named a university in his honor.
Mormons today like my mother may not know what he said in the reference above, however, their canon still shows the racist ideologies. It’s heartbreaking to think of the countless members buying into these lies.
Also remind the Mormon you know what the Lord said. Three Bible verses come to mind –
Acts 17:26 “And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation”.

So how did they decide that the curse was black skin to begin with? The LDS has had racist teachings since the beginning of their cult.
IMO, they picked it up from what was going on in the secular world at the time. Never mind that it’s TOTALLY unbiblical. Ugh…
It’s interesting because I was watching something on t.v. not long ago about the abolitionist movement. They showed a flier going around saying how ungodly slavery and racism was & quoted the Bible.
Matthew 7:12 “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”
I’m thinking Brigham either didn’t care and/or didn’t read it. This was going on in the mid 1800’s.
