Joseph Smith's first visionToday we’re looking at a well known biblical verse Mormons use when testing for truth. They like this verse because according to Joseph Smith, it’s the whole reason he went to the woods to pray and ask God for help.

Joseph Smith-History 1:11; “…I was one day reading the Epistle of James, first chapter and fifth verse, which reads: If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

Smith explained it never occurred to him all the churches were wrong, but that was the very thing God revealed to him when he knelt down to pray, and ask which church he should join.

Trusting God’s Word

Doctrines of Salvation 1:32; “Our Savior was a God before he was born into this world, and he brought with him that same status when he came here. He was as much a God when he was born into the world as he was before.”

In this article we’ll be looking at two subject matters; the false prophecies in Mormon scripture about Jesus being God, and the reliability of the Bible.  While I know that sounds rather random, hang with me and you’ll see what I mean!

Part 3

Temporal Consistency –Preservation over Time

The third criterion is temporal consistency. Do the oldest manuscripts match those that are “fresh of the presses”? If we are going to be testing The Book of Mormon to see if it is truth, we need to make sure that Book of Mormon we are testing is the same Book of Mormon that was originally written.

Part 1
