Foundations of Temple Worship, BYU-Idaho Devotional Address, October 2004; “The fulness of truth, and the fulness of the Holy Ghost, and the fulness of the priesthood, and the fulness of the glory of the Father are all phrases that are ocurrent in connection with the temple, and cannot be received anywhere else, nowhere else on the planet. You cannot receive the fulness that the Lord has for you without coming through the temple and having the temple come through you.” – Truman G. Madsen

the-first-presidencylds_conference_april_2010Church News, ‘Temple Worship is an Important Pattern for Each of You to Set,’ February 10, 2009; “Years ago, at the Logan Temple Cornerstone Ceremony in 1877, President George Q. Cannon said this: “Every foundation stone that is laid for a temple and every temple completed, lessens the power of Satan on the earth, and increases the power of God and Godliness, moves the heavens in mighty power in our behalf, invokes and calls down upon us the blessings of eternal Gods and those who reside in their presence” (Millennial Star, Volume 39, No. 46, November 12, 1877, p. 743).

Certainly in a day and time like we live in, the importance of every temple built and dedicated to the Lord cannot be overstated…” – Ronald A. Rasband

Temple Worship

Mormon Decisions 10Ensign, “The Symbol of Our Membership”, October 1994; “Let us be a temple-attending and a temple-loving people. Let us hasten to the temple as frequently as time and means and personal circumstances allow. Let us go not only for our kindred dead, but let us also go for the personal blessing of temple worship, for the sanctity and safety which is provided within those hallowed and consecrated walls. The temple is a place of beauty, it is a place of revelation, it is a place of peace. It is the house of the Lord. It is holy unto the Lord. It should be holy unto us…But to have the temple indeed be a symbol unto us, we must desire it to be so. We must live worthy to enter the temple. We must keep the commandments of our Lord.” – Howard Hunter

Necromancy

“Temple Worship: The Source of Strength and Power in Times of Need,” Ensign, May 2009, 45; “Fourteen years ago the Lord decided it was not necessary for my wife to live any longer on the earth, and He took her to the other side of the veil. I confess that there are times when it is difficult not to be able to turn and talk to her, but I do not complain. The Lord has allowed me, at important moments in my life, to feel her influence through the veil. . . .

You Are Clean

Ensign, Nov. 1996, pg 30; “On 3 April 1836 the Prophet Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery were engaged in sacred spiritual worship in the Kirtland Temple. After a solemn and silent prayer the Lord appeared to them and accepted the Kirtland Temple as His house.

“The marvelous description of the Savior and the appearance of ancient prophets who restored essential keys make the 110th section of the Doctrine and Covenants one of the most sacred and profound of all the communications the Lord has given us.

“Some of the most beautiful words in this section, or that any of us could ever hope to hear, are contained in verses 5 and 6:

“’Behold, your sins are forgiven you; you are clean before me; therefore, lift up your heads and rejoice.

“‘Let the hearts of your brethren rejoice, and let the hearts of all my people rejoice, who have, with their might, built this house to my name.’” – Quentin L. Cook, “Rejoice!”

General Conference October 2011

As you might already know, the semi-annual LDS General Conference will be held October 1-2, 2011.

Twice a year the Mormon Church holds conferences to hear the prophet and other leaders whom the Lord has called to lead the Church.  They give inspirational messages and sometimes new prophecies from the Lord, although the latter hasn’t happened since June of 1978.

Temples; Who can enter

Encyclopedia of Mormonism, pg. 1446; Temples have always been revered and reserved as sacred ground. Anciently, the prophet ezekiel [sic] declared, “Thus saith the Lord GOD; No stranger, uncircumcised in heart, nor uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into my sanctuary” (Ezek. 44:9). The Prophet Joseph Smith prayed that “[the temple] may be sanctified and consecrated to be holy, and that thy holy presence may be continually in this house” (D&C 109:12), “and that no unclean thing shall be permitted to come into thy house to pollute it” (D&C 109:20)…After construction and before a temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been dedicated to the Lord, an open house is held and the general public is invited to enter and view the rooms….
