Mormon Decisions 10Evidences and Reconciliations, p 282; “The Church ever operates in full light. There is no secrecy about its doctrine, aim, or work. It is open to all men who will conform to its requirements. Access to the temples, where the most sacred ordinances are performed, may be had by every member of the Church who lives the honorable life expected of faithful Latter-day Saints. No promise is exacted of any Church member except to live as nearly as may be in conformity with the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. The activities of the Church, in all departments, are sacred, not secret.” – John A. Widtsoe

Secret HandshakesVideo of Secret Handshakes in the Mormon Temples

In this next video we see the handshakes or “tokens” Mormons learn in the temple during the endowment ceremony. Mormons believe God requires them to know these things before He can permit them to come into His presence. I’ve watched these videos probably a half dozen times, and can’t believe I used to participate in these pagan rituals. It reminds me of how far God has brought me and  I’m so thankful I was pulled out of this religion by my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

LDS Temples

The number of LDS temples is extensive and should be taken seriously when we’re praying for those who are lost in the web of Mormonism.  The talk of temples was part of the focus at the last General Conference in October 2011 so we thought it’d be a good idea to list those here and share with you what a couple of the Mormon leaders had to say about their temples.

Mormon Dilemma 72

Polygamy, General Conference, 2nd Manifesto

Journal of Discourses 23:280; “…Whatever men’s laws may be we cannot deny the truth of God, the revelations of God. I cannot do it, I would be damned and go to hell if I were to do it….” – George Q. Cannon, Salt Lake City, October 8, 1882

Thought of the Day about Mormonism…and Masonry

I was wondering today about the Masonic emblems on the Mormon temples.  If the Church doesn’t want its members to associate with secret organizations, why are the temples riddled with the satanic markings of Masonry?

Temple Ceremonies Part 5 The Veil of the Temple

The Marks on the Veil

PETER: Brethren and sisters, I will now explain the marks on the veil. These four marks are the marks of the holy priesthood, and corresponding marks are found in your individual garment.

This one on the right is the mark of the square. It is placed in the garment over the right breast, suggesting to the mind exactness and honor in keeping the covenants entered into this day.

Temple Endowment Ceremonies Part 4 Terrestrial World

THE LAW OF CHASTITY

PETER: A couple will now come to the altar.

We are instructed to give unto you the law of chastity. This I will explain.

The Garden

ELOHIM: Adam, we have created for you this earth, and have placed upon it all kinds of vegetation and animal life. We have commanded all these to multiply in their own sphere and element.

We give you dominion over all these things and make you, Adam, lord over the whole earth and all things on the face thereof. We now command you to multiply and replenish the earth, that you may have joy and rejoicing in your posterity.

Temple Endowment Ceremonies Part 1 The Creation

The Endowment Ceremony Prior to 1990

The Creation

[Initiates have assembled in silence in the chapel. When all is ready, they are ushered into the Creation Room.]

For the next 2 or so hours patrons stay in the same room while watching a drama type scenario that takes place on the movie screen in the front of the room.  Throughout the different films, patrons will stand and kneel to pray around the altar or put on various temple clothing which signifies the robes of the priesthood while they chant their oaths and make the arm and hand gestures at the appropriate times.

Temple Ceremonies and the Clothing

By Melissa Grimes

My journey out of Mormonism began with the Mormon Temple. One night my husband was watching a documentary on Freemasonry and noticed how similar their temple rites were to those we participated in at the Mormon Temple.  At this point of my Mormon experience I had doubts off and on about the validity of Joseph Smith’s claims yet never delved into any serious research. I was simply content in my ignorance, as I trusted in the words of the church leaders to quiet my concerns.
