Ed DeckerI’ve been meaning to post this for a couple of weeks now so before more time slips away from me I’m posting Ed’s newsletter today!

I found that his section on the Hindus at BYU was rather interesting in light of the festival that was recently held in Spanish Fork. The Utah Hindu Fest held earlier this year had its largest attendance ever and BYU students made up the largest portion of attendees. Sadly, Utah holds the title for hosting the largest Hindu fests in the nation.  Nice.

Be sure you check out the great insights Ed had in his latest newsletter!

Ed DeckerMy good friend and mentor, Ed Decker, wrote a very insightful article earlier this month that I thought was so vital I’m posting it here with his permission.  I’ve often thought about the latest actions of the Church and wondered how long it’ll be before the empty halls of those temples echo.  Ed’s article concurs with my thoughts.  Interesting!

World Religions2

We’ve seen a surge in our search engine reports and e-mails requesting more information on Mormonism compared to other world religions.  In the twenty plus years I’ve been in ministry I’m seeing more and more similarities in these religions and Mormonism so I, along with my volunteers, find ourselves writing about this a lot!

So what are the similarities?  You’ll be surprised to find there are more similarities than not when dealing with Mormonism. What we found odd is the Church seems nonplussed that outsiders point them out. Oh the tangled web we weave…

In light of that, we’ve pulled our articles together and yep, you guessed it – it’s in a widget to the right or you can check it out by clicking here!  🙂

pentagramI’m posting this chart in response to the many e-mails I receive asking for definitions on Witchcraft, Satanism and Mormonism. This chart is part of a PowerPoint presentation I use when I’m asked to lecture at churches and schools.

This chart doesn’t include the side-by-side examples of Mormon beliefs, but you can download a chart for that here. It’s called Handouts for Witnessing. Between all the Mormon scriptures, Witchcraft and Satanism you’ll be prepared in knowing how to defend your faith with the Bible & see why God abhors worshiping anyone or anything but Him!

Thought of the Day about Mormonism…and Masonry

I was wondering today about the Masonic emblems on the Mormon temples.  If the Church doesn’t want its members to associate with secret organizations, why are the temples riddled with the satanic markings of Masonry?

Freemasonry and Mormonism

Mormon Doctrine, pg. 528; Although some argue that Joseph Smith borrowed elements of Freemasonry in developing the temple ceremony, the Endowment is more congruous with LDS scriptures (especially the book of Abraham and the Book of Moses) and ancient ritual than with Freemasonry. Latter-day Saints view the ordinances as a revealed restoration of ancient temple ceremony and only incidentally related to Freemasonry. The two are not antithetical, however, nor do they threaten each other…

Joseph Smith a member of the Masonic Lodge

Encyclopedia of Mormonism, pg. 1018; For a time Nauvoo was a community almost unto itself. Its singular status, the inclusive character of its life patterns, and the extension of the religious vision into all aspects of culture were stabilized by a strong self-sufficient charter and even a militia, the Nauvoo Legion. Many visitors came to view the new city, and efforts to promote cultural and intellectual exchange increased. Joseph Smith and about 1,500 other Church members joined the Masonic lodges in Nauvoo and nearby Keokuk and Montrose to promote fraternal relations (see –>Freemasonry in Nauvoo).

JOSEPH’S MAGIC HAT*

Joseph Smith’s claim of receiving gold plates from a holy angel, has attracted millions of converts to the Mormon Church, a church which now boasts a membership of nearly thirteen million, and continues to add about a million new members every three years or less.(1)
