March 21 — Moroni: Don’t Baptize Dead People. Romans 16:17-18 “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.” (more…)

Women of Mormondom, pp 78-79; “Jehovah is a covenant maker. ‘And I will make with Israel a new and everlasting covenant,’ is the text that Joseph and Brigham have been working upon. Hence this temple building in America to fulfill and glorify the new covenant of Israel…
…the Mormons build not temples to the name of Jesus, but to the name of Jehovah – not to the Son, but to the Father.
The Hebrew symbol is not the cross, but the scepter. The Hebrews know nothing of the cross. It is the symbol of heathenism, when Rome received her signs and her worship…The reign of Messiah! Temples to the Most High God! The scepter, not the cross!” – Eliza Roxcy Snow (more…)

“Brethren and sisters, you are about to be put under covenant to obey and keep the law of sacrifice, as contained in the Old and New Testaments. …as Jesus Christ has laid down his life for the redemption of mankind, so we should covenant to sacrifice all that we possess, even our own lives if necessary… All arise. … Each of you bring your right arm to the square. …” — LDS Temple Endowment Ceremony, the Garden
The quote above is from a scene in the temple endowment ceremony. You can find it in the link provided above. It’s a haunting reminder of what’s wrong in Mormon temples, especially when you consider that Jesus gave His life for us.
‘In whom we have redemption through his blood, [even] the forgiveness of sins…’ Colossians 1:14
We love hearing from our readers – so our post today is in response to a request from one of them. Yay! Specifically, he asked if we could post info concerning the pre-1990’s temple endowment ceremonies containing blood atonement oaths. He frequently shares the info we publish with Mormons he knows, and this topic is one he’s been discussing as of late. (more…)

It’s almost impossible to do any research on Mormonism without coming across historical documentation of Joseph Smith’s participation in the occult and the speech we’re listing here is a good example of that.
Of all the subjects within the world of Mormonism, learning about Joseph’s participation in the occult is what shocked me the most when I finally left the Church. All I can say is that I had absolutely no idea he did these things, but looking back on the things I participated in as a Mormon I shouldn’t have been surprised…

Glossary of Symbols, pg 254; “Brazen Sea. In Solomon’s Temple a large molten sea of brass placed on the backs of twelve brazen oxen (1 Kgs. 7:23-26). It was a baptismal font. Similar fonts, though not made of brass, are found in Latter-day Saint temples for the purpose of performing baptisms for the dead.”

Way to Perfection, pg 164-165; “Before the crucifixion of the Lord there was a great gulf fixed separating the righteous dead from those who had not received the Gospel, and across this gulf no man could pass. (Luke 16:26.) Christ bridged that gulf and made it possible for the word of salvation to be taken to all corners of the kingdom of darkness. In this way the realms of hell were invaded and the dead prepared for the ordinances of the Gospel which must be performed on earth since they pertain to the mortal probation.” – Joseph Fielding Smith

House of Prayer or Den of Thieves?
D&C 88:119; “Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God.”
Mark 11:17; “And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.”

LDS Temples
The number of LDS temples is extensive and should be taken seriously when we’re praying for those who are lost in the web of Mormonism. The talk of temples was part of the focus at the last General Conference in October 2011 so we thought it’d be a good idea to list those here and share with you what a couple of the Mormon leaders had to say about their temples.

I have to say it’s always an interesting day when the LDS Church builds a new temple. The link below will take you to a quick little video of how the new temple will look. One of our volunteers alerted me to look closely at the graphic when the video gets to 1:58. Take a close look at the front door my friends! Is that a cross???
